Mary Weber has painted
and drawn for as long as she can remember. One of the first
prizes she won was a set of Grumbacher water colors for a
picture she had done when she was a young girl in Wisonsin.
Her mother entered in a contest without Mary’s knowledge.
It wasn’t until many years later when her children
were older and she was able to take lessons from a woman
who is still an inspiration to her. Over the years she has
taken courses from various artists which have influenced
her work.
Mary’s work has been in numerous
exhibits from Wisonsin, USA to several Caribbean countries.
Her work has been purchased privately and corporately and
represented in St. Lucia by Anse Chastanet Art Gallery,
the Art Gallery at Jaoulsie Hilton, The Harbour Gallery
at Pointe Seraphine, St. Lucia Arts and Crafts Cooperative,
Artsibit Gallery.
As a self-taught artist she beleives
it is important to paint as often as she can. “My husband
has made a wonderful studio for me in our home and painting
there gives me a feeling of statisfaction not matched by
anything else. One of my goals is to do more plein air painting
catching people at their daily tasks where ever I happen
to be.” |
